Residential Energy Upgrades

An important part of our Denver Climate Challenge program is to provide direct services to low-income families to reduce their energy bills while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Groundwork Denver works with families one-on-one to identify areas where energy can be saved in the home. While at the home, we install compact fluorescent light bulbs, pipe insulation, power strips, low-flow shower heads, and sink aerators to directly reduce energy. We educate people about things they can do to save energy including cold water laundry, thermostat set backs, air drying clothes, and shutting down electronics when not in use. We work with families to enroll in other programs that can have an even bigger impact, like weatherization or DURA home rehabilitation program. For those who don’t qualify, we have some funds set aside for insulation and air sealing.
